An Error of Comedies (with apologies to Will Shakespeare)
My Christmas album is still banned! And the reason is has been banned is that the spoken word is now banned on Spotify in the U.S.A. (how will they talk to each other? ) I'll attempt to explain it but it won't be easy. Are you strapped in and ready to go? It would seem that there is anticipated litigation in the U.S.A as a result of Spotify tracks using the spoken word. It would seem that Spotify has said (presumably in Swedish before the spoken word ban - as they are a Swedish company - did you know that?) they are not responsible. The blame should go to the distributors. My distributor, Tunecore then said "Hang on" (as they didn't have a word ban at that time) "in that case no track with the spoken word will be sent to Spotify in the U.S.A". GENIUS!! But then they asked themselves "How do we know the tracks with spoken words?" And somebody else suggested COMEDY as a lot of the naughty comedians who use swear words do comedy. And so it was ...
